Gonzaga Stars and NBA Players ready for 4th annual event Game will take place September 4th with Dan, Adam, and Special Guests Spokane, Wash. – Northwest Sports & Entertainment Inc. announces the return of the “Northern Quest Casino Spokane All-American’s Charity Classic” featuring Dan Dickau and Adam Morrison. This will be the fourth consecutive summer classic featuring current NBA Players with former Gonzaga alumni playing together in an event to raise money for Spokane area charities. The NBA approved event has become a summer highlight for basketball fans in the northwest. The Classic provides a wonderful opportunity to meet some great players and watch an exciting basketball game designed to entertain and raise money for charity. The Charity Classic concludes an entertaining week in Spokane that also features the Celebrity Poker Tournament held on September 3rd at Northern Quest Casino and the infamous after party following the game. Last year’s Charity Classic featured a thrilling finish as Dan Dickau, his former Gonzaga roommate Kyle Bankhead and Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger combined to ignite a fourth-quarter rally as Dickau's White team edged Adam Morrison and the Red Team 143-140. Dickau scored 39 points, including a clutch 3-pointer with 12.1 seconds that gave the Red team a four-point lead. He also tallied 16 assists to earn MVP honors. Players from past Charity Classic games have included NBA players Dan Dickau, Adam Morrison, Kyle Korver, Jason Terry, Luke Ridnour, Richie Frahm, Danny Granger, and Fred Jones. The game has also featured numerous Gonzaga Alumni including Blake Stepp, Richard Fox, Errol Knight and many others. Participants in this year’s game will be announced later this summer. Host, Dan Dickau, the former Gonzaga 1st team All-American and current Los Angeles Clippers Point Guard, is coming off his most successful NBA season since he averaged 13.2 points per game for the New Orleans Hornets in 2004-05. The Free Agent, Dickau shot a career high 41.9% from the field and averaged an exceptional 3.1 assist to turnover ratio. The high point of the 2007-08 season came on March 5th as Dickau totaled 20 points, 4 assist and 4 rebounds in a 116-109 win in Los Angeles over Sacramento. Morrison, the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft, was the top scorer in college basketball three seasons ago with Gonzaga. Adam is again expected to be in attendance, but doubtful the Bobcats will allow the 3rd year NBA player to participate in the game. Adam is still recovering from a torn ligament in his left knee suffered playing the Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game last October. The game is scheduled for Thursday, September 4th, 2008, at McCarthey Athletic Center on the Campus of Gonzaga and tipoff is at 7:00pm. Celebrity Poker Tournament Returns for 3rd Year Tournament to be held September 3rd and includes first time bracelet winner and 2008 World Series of Poker POY Erick Lindgren Spokane, Wash. – Dan Dickau along with Northern Quest Casino in association with Northwest Sports & Entertainment, is pleased to announce the 2008 Northern Quest Casino Dan Dickau Celebrity Poker Tournament. This third year event will take place at 7:00 pm on September 3rd, in the Casino’s Main Ballroom. This experience is open to the first 100 paid entrants plus approximately 20 celebrities from the basketball world, mixed with three world championship poker players. Entry is $500. Each participant will receive one seat into the tournament, two tickets to the celebrity poker reception before hand, a gift bag with a minimum retail value of $200, and two premier seats to the 2008 Northern Quest Casino Spokane All-American’s Charity Classic game to be on the Campus of Gonzaga. The year marks the third time this event has been held, with each of the past two events being a major success. The 2008 Dan Dickau Celebrity Poker Tournament will include Dan himself, along with around 20 other celebrities, including current NBA players and Gonzaga University alumni. Also scheduled to participate for the third consecutive year is the 2004 World Poker Tour Poker player of the year Erick Lindgren. Erick, just completed an amazing run in the 2008 World Series of Poker, that included a 3rd place finish in the Horse event ($781,440), 4th Place No-Limit 2-7 Draw ($156,151), and a first place in the Mixed Hold-em ($374,505) and more importantly his first ever Bracelet. At the time of this press release, Erick is in the lead for the 2008 World Series of Poker player of year honors. He has earned a total of $1,348,528 during the WSOP run this past month. Also scheduled to appear are two other stars from the world of professional poker. WPT’s Mirage Poker Showdown Champion Gavin Smith. Also attending will be Josh Arieh, the 3rd place finisher from the World Series of Poker main event and owner of two WSOP bracelets. The event kicks off at 5:45 pm with the celebrity poker reception. With all the players being seated by 6:55 pm, the first hand of the tournament will be dealt at 7 pm. Winning prize include a 50” plasma flat panel HDTV, first place trophy, Dan Dickau signed jersey, and 2 tickets to see the GU in Spokane. Prizes will be given to the top 20 players in the event, and include other electronics, trips, and tickets to the Comcast Battle in Seattle.
